Chat
2003, two channel video with sound

Chat, 2003

A non-linguistic conversation between two malfunctioning fluorescent lighting fixtures. Disturbances and noise have been given a new stage and an audience, which may normally ignore it. What is perceived as intelligence and humor emerge by virtue of this random process.

Chat, 2003, installation visualization
Cognitive closure and perceptivity in the viewer is triggered by this meditation on what it is to be alone yet together, perceptively close, yet physically absent, without a body and without a voice. What it means to communicate with another when media technologies assist to facilitate, but are not necessarily able to convey emotionally meaningful exchanges.
